Aesthetics and technology hand in hand
Engie in Hoboken is still one of the most striking references in our portfolio. While other projects are mainly about scale or speed, here the focus was entirely on accuracy, detail and an impeccable finish. The result is a facade that is correct down to the smallest millimeter and is often used as an example by architects.
A technically complex assignment
The assignment started with the placement of consoles against the concrete substructure. A continuous L-profile was mounted on top, which served as a new surface for further development. Insulation was carefully placed between the framework, followed by a waterproof rain foil. The final finish was the cutting metal panels, which give the facade its sleek and modern appearance.
The special thing about this project was the combination of the many levels of the windows and the tolerances of the expanded metal panels. The windows were on a fixed horizontal line, but the 4 meter long cutting metal plates could come out of the machine with a deviation of a few centimeters. This seems bridging, but with multiple rows this can lead to a significant difference in height, which requires very creative thinking to make the entire coherence of the facades appear correct.

Aesthetics through integration
One of the most striking aspects of this project is the invisible integration of doors and windows. Thanks to ingeniously placed metal frames, these openings completely disappear from the facade. This makes the building appear to be one sleek and uniform plane, without interruptions. The result is not only aesthetically attractive, but also functional: the facade looks modern and fits seamlessly with the architect’s architectural vision.
These subtle interventions are exactly what distinguishes our work. We not only think about the practical implementation, but also about the visual impact of every detail. See how we gave other buildings a new look through our realizations.
Planning and execution
The implementation of this project took three months. Although this may seem like a long period at first glance, it is actually very fast for a file with so much technical complexity. Everything had to be prepared down to the last detail: from ordering the right materials to accurate installation on the site.
Thanks to tight coordination and continuous communication with the client, the project was completed within the planned period and within the agreed budget.
Value for the customer
For Engie, this project meant an investment in sustainability, appearance and reliability. The facade is not only visually impressive, but also equipped with high-quality insulation and weather-resistant materials that retain their value in the long term. Moreover, the building became an architectural reference: an example of how steel and design can reinforce each other.
The Engie Building in Hoboken perfectly illustrates MSB’s strengths:
- Precision down to the millimeter, even with large formats.
- Aesthetic solutions such as the invisible integration of doors and windows.
- Efficiency: completed a challenging project within three months.
- Customer focus, with continuous communication and transparency.
